• Shino Lathe Teacup

Each item is made individually by hand. We use Oujigama’s characteristic Shino glaze fired in heavy-oil kilns to create teacups with warmth and a substantial sense of presence. In addition, when used for a long time, the appearance of the product changes due to crazing, so you can enjoy making the teacup your very own. The soft white really brings out the green color of tea, and the teacup itself has a gorgeous appearance.

OUJIGAMA

Oujigama is a pottery founded in the middle of the Edo period and has operated for nearly 200 years. Oujigama has two major characteristics. The first is that it makes each item by hand, with a focus on Shino glaze. The second is the fact that we use heavy-oil kilns for firing. Shino is one of the traditional glazes, and by using Oujigama’s own original blend for glazing as well as firing using heavy-oil kilns, which are a rare sight across the country, we create unique vessels with a substantial sense of presence. When used for a long time, the appearance of the product changes due to crazing.
